What Happened?!
It’s a long story. I ended up writing what I hoped was my last blog post in the Shannon airport on my cell phone on June 25 and it was thoughtful and reflective — and I lost it somehow. My laptop battery was at 1% and same with the tablet and I had no appropriate adapter to access an outlet. Frankly, this is a writer’s nightmare to have so much to say to close out the journey and be stymied by technology. No wonder most writers still have paper and pens in their studies. Suffice to stay, I spent a couple of days in Galway, my absolute favorite Irish city, walked along the beach, saw golfers at the Galway Golf Club, and took the bus to Shannon for an easy flight to Boston. I had a whole week with my extended family before coming back to Texas and my life here.
I refuse to write about my family since their story and privacy are sacrosanct. I can say I came away with a $1,000, a beautiful bracelet, and sure that family love has to be the very best gift in this life. This blog is a love letter to a grandmother I never knew, and yet has infiltrated my being just as every other flesh and blood family member has. I know that the family stories I heard shape me and I am richer because I listened and remembered.
Thanks for reading.
